Hitchcock’s Vertigo is an ur-psychedelic film, at least in the graphic design.
Here we have the opening and the first spiral…
Which leads to the other golden spiral (something I try to teach my photography club students).
My boyfriend and I are still separated by the pandemic, but we watched Vertigo together the other night and he texted me that he thought I would like Scotty’s door. Its true! I texted him back the photo I’d taken of the screen.
It reminds me of this photograph I bought from photographer, Daniel Eric Weiss.
And then when the movie switches to the second half we enter the mirror.
I wrote a much longer piece called Mirror Stage, about my photography, and mirrors, and identity. Take a look!
My mother reading the Chinese-language paper years ago in a motel in the Catskills. I used my Canon PowerShot SD110 digicam for this.

From one of my favorite restaurants, Mala Project. Using the Polaroid Lab, itype film.
Come on over to @mamiyaroid on instagram to see more mirror polaroid photos I took using my Mamiya RZ67 and polaroid back. This shot was a bit difficult as it required a step ladder & the mamiya weighs more than five pounds! I’m LOVING the Sx70 film in this camera. The 8/20 batch is phenomenal, but some of the ones I’ll be posting are from an older batch and are still great.
Until next time…
I love to receive comments and questions about photography and cameras!
