My interview with Larissa Pham is up at Believer Magazine. Her book, Pop Song, is out now! Last May we met up in Prospect Park so I could take author photos and today I got to see it on her book jacket, which was gratifying. I recommend the book! It’s smart and tender.
This week I just want to highlight two photographs I took last week. I’ve been carrying around my Canonet with a roll of Cinestill BWXX film in it for what feels like forever (it’s probably been a month or so). I used a lot of it at a rally in support of Asian Americans but these photographs are of a man who was sitting at a table in Chinatown. When he offered to teach me martial arts, I asked to photograph him, instead. From Puerto Rico, he described how he got into martial arts (through the movies) and his love of Chinatown. A classic New York character.
I really love this film open wide like it is here (f4 at 1/125). I’ll try it again.
Until next time…
Adalena
