I really felt my lack of a solid digital camera this week. I was with some friends and a woman walked by us with a cockatiel on her shoulder. I definitely would have taken a photo if I’d had a viable camera on me!
Earlier I shared digital photographs from Coney Island. That day I also shot film and here are the disappointing results.
The first photographs in this set were taken with my Canonet QL17 GIII and expired Ektachrome 160 T. I’m pretty sure this film was not cold stored and that is apparent in the results. Granted, I used a tungsten rated film in daylight without a correcting filter, but the color shifts and the heavy grain are just too much for my taste, even after editing. I was particularly disappointed when I saw the photo I captured in Times Sq. Love the image, hate the muddy results. If anyone has good tips for editing expired slide film, please let me know!
